The Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) Los Angeles Chapter is teaming up with the Orange County, San Diego, SF Bay Area, and the Inland Empire chapters to bring you the FIFTH Annual AppSec California. The event is a one of a kind experience for information security professionals, developers, and QA and testing professionals, as they gather at the beach from around the world to learn and share knowledge and experiences about secure systems and secure development methodologies.

One and Two-day training sessions on various subjects by expert trainers kick off the conference on January 28th. World renown speakers follow on days three and four.

There will be four concurrent tracks throughout the day on both January 30 and 31, addressing a variety of topics to enhance knowledge.

Cybersecurity Executive Professional with 20 years of hands-on leadership and consulting experience with information security and technology programs in the defense and aerospace, financial, non-profit, manufacturing, start-up, law enforcement, government, and academia sectors. Mr. Nguyen is a recognized information security subject matter expert, speaker, and a virtual/fractional Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) in cybersecurity governance, risk, and compliance. He has certifications in cybersecurity governance, risk, compliance, and functions as a government cybersecurity strategist, ethical hacker, and thought leader.

Prior to joining California Manufacturing Technology Consulting (CMTC), Mr. Nguyen was the CISO and VP of Information Security for Impac Mortgage Holdings, Inc., a publicly traded financial service corporation, where he implemented and led their cybersecurity and risk management program. He has served as the Director of Cyber Operations under the U.S. Air Force Cyber Command and retired as a Lt. Colonel. He has completed multiple cybersecurity and IT audits for multiple defense entities and was engaged in global Cyber missions. He is also currently instructing U.S. Marines and U.S. Navy military members in Cybersecurity IT Foundation for Syracuse University and to post-graduate candidates in Masters of Science Cybersecurity program at Webster University as an Adjunct Professor. He provides cybersecurity advisory to start-ups at the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI). He is currently a Board Member of the American Red Cross (OC) and Working Wardrobes VetNet. He is a Technology Cyber Advisory Council Member with the Orange County Sheriff's Department.
